Chu Chocolate Bar & Café Bangkok Review

Chocolate treats in Bangkok are in abundance, both in options and in quality. We will never forget the famous Sukhothai chocolate buffet, with chocolate master Chef Laurent Ganguillet at the heart of it. The second memorable mark left Kad Kokoa with their chocolate and “bean to bar” concept, which is strengthening the Thai chocolate supply chain. Now we want to share our experience with the Chu Chocolate Bar & Café with you.

Western food for any time of the day

Ambiance

Chu Chocolate Bar & Café is a casual dining place inside a small shopping mall. Leading features include light wooden furniture over the concrete floor with dominating black elements. Apparent industrial look defies an easy-going vibe, though that can quickly change when all the tables are full. Nevertheless, there is enough room to find a secluded corner and enjoy your time with soothing chocolate in your mouth.

Chu Chocolate Bar & Café Menu

Part of the all-day breakfast is everyone’s favorites like waffles, pancakes, and eggs on more than ten ways. Part of the all-day breakfast concept is also an array of cold-pressed juices. Then there is a lunch and dinner section with western favorites, starting with appetizers and bar snacks, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, and of course, salad.

Neon sign fits well into the casual industrial style.
We preferred the hot chocolate over the iced.

The majority of desserts include chocolate, but you’ll find something without it. However, we were on our “find the best chocolate outlet in Bangkok” mission, so our aim was chocolate. To be honest, we were more than happy with the offer. Most of all, we were excited to taste chocolate pastry with a chocolate drink.

Useful expo.

Our Bites

Chu Chocolate Bar & Café is the right place to visit if you crave some chocolate dessert. Well, we sure got a fair amount of chocolate in us and loved every bite. Their chocolate desserts are real chocolate heaven, and a match to the heavenly standard was also their artisanal ice cream.

Dark chocolate cake looks inviting next to the raspberry ice cream and whipped cream.

Hot Chocolate Cake

A generous measure of chocolate in the pastry and its heart will satisfy any chocolate lover. Gooey chocolate cake soaked just enough of its melted dark chocolate heart to keep it moist and desirable. Intense chocolate isn’t too sweet or overpowering, but it feels good to reduce it with melted marshmallows or whipped cream from time to time.

Hot chocolate cake was our favorite.

Brownie Affogato

It is incredible how the chocolate brownie chunks didn’t soak up the affogato! No matter how long it took us to eat the drowned vanilla ice cream in the espresso, the brownie chunks were engagingly chewy till the end.

Brownie Affogato for that extra caffeine kick.

Brownie Sundae

When we were at Chu Chocolate Bar & Café, we were able to choose among the hazelnut, almond, and macadamia brownie options. The offer varies from day to day, but the pleasure of eating one is constant. We sure loved our macadamia chocolate brownie together with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Brownie’s compact body and firm crust only contributed to the rich chocolate taste that filled us up before we knew it.

Peanut Butter Lava Cake

This house pride takes a little longer to arrive at the table, but it is well worth the wait. Dark chocolate cake looks inviting next to the raspberry ice cream and whipped cream. Nevertheless, you shouldn’t just focus on the delicious raspberry ice cream. Combining it with dark chocolate cake and runny peanut butter is also a wonderful idea.

70% Iced Dark Chocolate

70% chocolate drink is the right choice for the chocolate lovers that respect the richness of the dark cacao. Single-origin chocolate we had was from the Santo Domingue. Chocolate from there is known for an appealing bitterness before a long floral, fruity aftertaste takes over. In case you find it too intense, we suggest you wait for some ice to melt and enjoy.

Tasty refreshment that will lift your spirits.

Final Thought

It looks like a chocolate dream in Bangkok is real, and chocolate is treated right. It is even possible that if it isn’t good, it doesn’t exist. Desserts at Chu Chocolate Bar & Café were absolutely delicious, and so was their ice cream. The only thing we missed was a glass of water with that intense chocolate treats. Then again, this is something that can easily be forgiven when your belly is full of chocolate. However, if you are a passionate chocolate lover, then you should check our “The Best Chocolate Bar in Bangkok” list.

Price and Location

Prices at the Chu Chocolate Bar & Café reflect the high quality and artisanal treats, hard to find elsewhere. Hence the cheapest dessert comes for 3,80 USD and reaches its top at 8 USD.
