Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur Review

There are two Autograph Collection hotels here in Kuala Lumpur. The first one is the heritage Majestic Hotel KL and the second one is the trendy Hotel Stripes. Hotel Stripes is the counterbalance to the “colonial lady.” Simply because of all the chilled-out attributes they have. The cozy room is trendy, and a little different, service is courteous, good food, a rooftop bar with infinity pool, and the most important – THE VIBE. Yes, my friends, we are the fans of hotels with “The Vibe” and this hotel certainly is one of those. If you would like to know more about this gem, please continue reading this Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur Review article.

Hotel’s neighborhood, Jalan Kamunting had been destroyed at the end of the 19th century. After that, buildings were made with more durable material – red bricks.
The entrance, where combining old and new has a meaning.

First Impression

Hotel Stripes will enchant you with its distinctive red bricks design and clean look. This contemporary facade is a tribute to this vibrant area, which was once totally burnt down, and later rebuilt with more durable bricks. These brick houses are still present and a part of an exceptional heritage.

Thoughtful interior design is seen in the lighting.

Bricks give away the signs of protection without compromising the open rooftop layout.

Check-In

This pleasant atmosphere starts at the open lobby. Edgy design is present here, and yellow vintage lighting only complements all. At the concierge desk, we managed all the formality in no time, and our vacation in Kuala Lumpur started at ease.

Service at the Stripes Hotel will make you feel welcome. Check-in was fast and flawless.

Our Room

Hotel Stripes has 184 rooms and suites, which are all located on the upper floors and faced to the city sunset direction. Chic urban design and dynamic floor plan will ensure that your stay will be pleasant. Marble, glass, and warm tapestry are supported with decoration, which came in handy for Trigona honey shots. So yes, the room certainly is instagrammable if you prefer this word.

Stripes Hotel rooms have contemporary appliances and an open layout.
Hotel Stripes was our temporary office.
It’s handy to have a bathroom sink at hand and it makes the room more spacious as well.

The first eye-catching thing is the washing sink in the bedroom instead of inside the bathroom. With this design solution, they made a more dynamic floor plan and some convenience as well. It’s great for a quick hand wash or making yourself a cup of tea.

A Cozy bed is a must!
The bathroom is not too spacious, bet it is functional and bright.
Blurred glass for teasing and privacy.
The room is cozy, no argument there.
The movable wall light quickly sets the ambiance.

Cleanliness at Hotel Stripes

Hotel Stripes is neat no matter where we looked. Vivi and her signs of OCD were sniffing for some dirty corners which didn’t come up. I think there is no need to explain how cleanliness helps to well-being.

Hotel Stripes is part of the Autograph Collection. So far, we were very satisfied with the cleanliness of this “chain”.

Facilities and Amenities at Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur

Who wouldn’t want to start a day with a picturesque view and a refreshing dip at the sunrise? All of the above is found at the Stripes Hotel; including the infinity rooftop pool and a bird’s perspective of the KL Forest Eco Park, including Kuala Lumpur’s skyline. If you’re an early bird, you can enjoy the peaceful hours of the day while looking at the rising sun. I bet this is one of the best rooftop pools in Kuala Lumpur.

We started our days up here…
…and end here.

Gym

On the same floor as the Stripes rooftop infinity pool is also the state-of-the-art gym, available 24-hours a day. In the spacious and airy gym, you can find fresh fruit and water supply along with clean towels.

Hotel Stripes has 24-hour access to the gym.

Man Tao Bar

Rooftop bar by the pool is a place we loved visiting over and over again. Their offer includes drinks and snacks. However, late-night drinks are possible only for the end of the week.

Guilty pleasure, Hibiki Japanese Harmony can be found here as well.

Meeting Studios at the Snug

On the second floor of the Hotel Stripes is an open area that is meant for special events and meetings. However, we would rather see some fine dining “snug” option here instead… You get it, snug, dining, slow dining?

The Snug is designed for different kinds of events.

Dining Options at Hotel Stripes

But still, Hotel Stripes offers one all-day dining restaurant; Brasserie 25. The food there was good, we only missed a higher culinary experience. Probably that Snug could fill this gap.

All-day dining restaurant BRASSERIE 25 is also a dining room for the hotel’s self-service breakfast.

Brasserie 25

Easily accessible at the ground level of the Hotel Stripes is an all-day dining restaurant known as BRASSERIE 25. If you are a hotel guest your day will probably start here. After breakfast time is over, the Brasserie 25 serves a list of western dishes. Later in the day, you can also enjoy the Bao-Tea-Ful afternoon tea, which is a mix of Western, Japanese and Korean cuisine.

Breakfast at Hotel Stripes

In the morning, guests help themselves at the self-service breakfast. Going through the offer, you can have some sandwiches with delicious braised chickpeas in a tomato coulis. In the first place, I loved this combination, and it wasn’t the only one. Western and local classic dishes are in a lovely balance for the size of the buffet. As a matter of fact, they are getting some of their local dishes from near local restaurants. Not to mention, this is not only much tastier dish but also the support of the local businesses. Respect!

We began our breakfast at Brasserie 25 with a freshly juiced “Man of Steel.”
We preferred the succulent sandwiches over the tortillas rolls.
Fruit, yogurt and sandwiches
Not for a salad? There is more to this salad bar than just vegetables.
Typical Malay dishes: fried rice with vegetable and Siamese noodles.
Waffles, pancakes with or without apples and cinnamon french toast.

Sizzling Sundays at Man Tao Bar

On Sundays, you can indulge in the grilled specialties at the rooftop Man Tao Bar on behalf of the Sizzling Sundays. We had a wonderful time there and keep our Sunday sizzled.

Service at Hotel Stripes KL

Service at Hotel Stripes was just like one would expect in a hotel like this; it makes you feel welcome. Indeed, guys were amiable, and always ready for a talk.

Staff at Hotel Stripes is friendly and helpful. Bonus points for our Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur Review.
As an Autograph Collection, Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur features a distinctive vibe and edgy style.

Price, Location and Reservation

A room here, for two persons with breakfast, will cost you only about 100USD, which is a great value. Anyway, here is a link to a location for easier navigation. If you are thinking about booking, please use our link and we will receive small gratitude from the booking office. However, your price will be the same. Thank you.

Conclusion

This is a hotel that is proud of its street connection and it fits here well. To point out, Jalan Kamunting is a place between the “urban jungle” and the “free spirit”.

Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur Review bonus points – the view from our hotel room!

All things considered, Hotel Stripes is a stylish hotel with great service. What about facilities and activities? To clarify, yes, there is a lack of these, and there is a reason. The hotel is small and more convenient for city explorers. However, if you are looking for a more pampering hotel, than probably Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur is the one for you!

When the reflection becomes perfection.
