Clear water between sunlit stone and shaded cliffs.
A secret beach on the Adriatic coast, tucked beneath the cliffs with pine trees above and clear water below. The narrow curve of pebbles occupies only a small part of the scene; much of the view belongs to the rock, its deep shadows and the sunlight reaching through the gaps. These photographs take a closer look at this small stretch of coastline, from the trees down to the water.
The sea is only half the view.
Some trees make you look up before you move on.
A narrow opening can hold a whole landscape.
Light gives the rock its shape. Shadow gives it depth.
A small beach leaves plenty of room for the sea.
Even the way out is worth stopping for.
The photographs show how much a view can change within a small space. A rock that hides the sea in one frame becomes its border in the next. There is enough here to reward a slower look, whichever direction you turn.
