Gold standard of Four Seasons KL
Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur arrived with plenty of attention. The 65-storey tower changed the KLCC skyline and gave the brand a prominent address beside KLCC Park and the Petronas Twin Towers. We were curious whether the new hotel could deliver more than height, polished marble and a famous name.
Our stay combined a bright park-view room, an excellent breakfast, attentive service and some impressive dining. It also exposed several early maintenance flaws and an atmosphere that suited a city or business stay more than a romantic escape. This Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur review explains both sides.
Is Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur worth booking?
Why We Would Return
Worth Knowing
Our take: A polished luxury base for KLCC, especially for business travellers, food lovers and short city breaks. The location, room and service were excellent, although the hotel did not have the warmth we wanted for a romantic stay.

The hotel’s greatest practical strength is its location. It sits on Jalan Ampang in KLCC, steps from KLCC Park, Suria KLCC and the Petronas Twin Towers. This makes it convenient for sightseeing, shopping, dining and meetings in the city centre.
Inside, the design follows a calm palette of grey, white, gold, brown and deep blue. Tall spaces, clean lines, local artwork and carefully placed lighting give the public areas a polished urban character. It is a different experience from a heritage hotel such as The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
We liked the natural light and collection of Malaysian art, but the scale and minimalism sometimes seemed cool. The glass tower itself is imposing more than beautiful. It also stands behind the park rather than directly on its edge, unlike the Mandarin Oriental.
The hotel lobby is on the sixth floor. The route to reception opens towards the Lounge, where daylight reflects across marble floors and a full-height glass wall makes the space appear even larger.
Our check-in was pleasant, efficient and relatively quick. The luggage handling was particularly smooth: our bags were already waiting in the room when we arrived.
Check-out left a less positive final impression. We did not receive the promised folio, even after more than a month, and the Four Seasons app did not resolve it. We also noticed stains and deep marks in some lobby and lift floors, surprising in a hotel that was only a few months old during our visit.
The entrance opened beside a large wardrobe area. It offered plenty of storage but could not be closed off, which bothered Vivi. Beyond it, the bedroom was spacious and bright, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking KLCC Park. The fountains were especially enjoyable after dark.
The king bed and sofa were comfortable, and a pillow menu allowed us to adjust the setup. The proper writing desk had conveniently placed power sockets, making the room practical for work. A cabinet concealed the minibar, coffee and tea facilities.
The modern bathroom was another highlight. It included a full-size bath, a separate walk-in rain shower and an advanced heated toilet with washing functions. The generous layout worked well for two people.
A bedside tablet replaced the usual printed hotel directory. It provided hotel information and access to the concierge, in-room dining, limousine bookings and other services. This was a genuinely useful feature, particularly for a newly opened city hotel.
Among the standard personal-care items, Vivi particularly liked the bergamot-scented Roja Parfums toiletries. Their black packaging created a sharp contrast against the pale bathroom. We were less impressed by the plastic water bottles used during our visit.
The room and hotel were generally clean, and the air quality in the room was good. However, the exterior windows were dirty enough to weaken a view for which guests pay a premium. We also noticed stains and finish damage on floors in our room and elsewhere.
Breakfast was one of the strongest parts of our stay. Curate is bright and stylish, and its extensive buffet covered Malaysian, Indian, Middle Eastern, Asian and Western dishes. Food quality was consistently high, and the variety made it easy to build either a light breakfast or a generous one.
Vivi gravitated towards the salad and Middle Eastern stations, especially the labneh, hummus Beiruti, baba ghanoush, beetroot moutabel and foul mudammas. The selection also included fruit, oats, muesli, several cheeses and four types of honey. The store-bought Arabic bread was the weak point in an otherwise strong section.
I preferred the Malaysian, Indian and Western stations. Beef rendang, gulai chicken and aloo gobi were among the best hot dishes, while the eggs Benedict, beef pastrami and good-quality sausages covered my usual favourites. Dim sum, soups and several made-to-order options added further choice.
Orange and a daily green apple-and-cucumber blend were the genuinely fresh juices; several other flavours were bottled products. Pastries were served fresh, although the sweet selection was not as memorable as the savoury food. Our jam-filled doughnuts and almond Danish were the best of the desserts we tried.
The veranda-inspired Lounge made an elegant setting for afternoon tea. Premium loose-leaf tea from Harney & Sons and the food met our expectations, although the futuristic tiered stand did not match the otherwise refined presentation. Strong air conditioning also made the room uncomfortably cold during our visit. Read our separate Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur afternoon tea review for the complete experience.
Bar Trigona was our favourite venue in the hotel. Its blue-and-gold interior, informed service and creative menu worked together beautifully. The bar takes its name from Malaysia’s stingless trigona bee and uses local honey as one of its signatures. Wine, beer and food accompany the cocktail list. See our detailed Bar Trigona review.
The hotel’s dining collection extended beyond the venues we reviewed in detail. Yun House brought contemporary Cantonese dining to a particularly attractive room, while the pool terrace provided a more casual option. Together with Curate, The Lounge and Bar Trigona, these restaurants made the hotel one of the stronger dining addresses in KLCC during our visit.
The hotel has an outdoor pool terrace with city views and a poolside dining area. Our disappointment came from comparing it with the greener pool on the opposite side of the complex, which belongs to the private residences. The hotel pool was smaller and more exposed, though still useful for a swim between meetings or sightseeing.
The Four Seasons KL gym was well equipped with cardiovascular machines, free weights and strength equipment. Trainer assistance was available throughout the day during our stay. It was a genuine modern fitness facility, not a token hotel gym.
We spent more time in the steam room and Finnish sauna, both of which were excellent. The relaxation space was calm and attractive. However, we each saw fallen tiles in the separate changing or wellness areas, another early construction issue that should not have appeared in a new luxury hotel.
Staff were consistently polite, helpful and proactive. The welcome, luggage delivery and interactions across the restaurants reflected the service standards associated with Four Seasons. At times, the attention was almost too formal, with employees crossing a room simply to greet us, but we preferred that to indifference.
The main operational lapse involved in-room-dining trolleys left in corridors, including carts that remained until morning. Luxury service should include prompt collection, especially when the hotel already knows which room placed an order. The missing checkout folio was another avoidable flaw.
Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur makes the most sense for business travellers, food-focused guests and anyone planning a short luxury stay around KLCC. The central location, comfortable room, proper desk, strong breakfast and attentive service support that role exceptionally well.
Couples who want heritage character or a deeply romantic atmosphere may prefer somewhere warmer in tone. The hotel room itself was excellent, but the scale and contemporary public areas did not create the intimacy we found at The Majestic. The outdoor pool was also less inviting than expected.
WNF conclusion: We would recommend Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur as a polished city hotel with standout food, an enviable address and impressive service. Our concerns centred on early finish defects, dirty windows, delayed trolley collection and the cool atmosphere. Those shortcomings did not erase the hotel’s strengths, but they kept the experience from being flawless.
