Spa Village Ambiance

The Spa Village Malacca is a part of the Majestic Hotel Malacca, where you’ll be able to find a reflection of Melaka’s rich cultural heritage. Naturally, at the Spa Village Malacca is all about the Peranakan luxury from furnishing to the experience.

The Peranakan culture is heavily influenced both by the east and the west.

For example, the traditional Peranakan day beds offer total comfort while kind staff took care of me like I’m a Peranakan bride. Not the nervous one! It is impossible to be anything but relaxed from start to finish due to the attentive staff and peaceful atmosphere of the Spa Village Malacca.

Spa Village Malacca Review

Spa Village Malacca focuses on traditional Chinese medicine, and Malay influenced therapies. Therefore, you’ll be able to choose among the yin and yang treatments that are adjusted for the desired warming or cooling effect. The spa menu is diverse and will nurture the body from head to toe, and that is just a beginning. Don’t miss the traditional Malay massage or simply relax with the classic massage.

Melaka Spa
According to the Chinese belief, red symbolizes luck, joy, and happiness.

Before I decided on the treatment, I went through the short questioner that pointed me into the yang therapies. Worth remembering is that the light pressure serves warming energy, while deep pressure for cooling energy.

Pre-SPA Treatment

Regardless of the treatment you choose, you’ll enjoy a bit of the Peranakan wedding tradition. It starts with the Feng Shui practice of cleansing energies. That is done by sprinkling some lime water with soaked kaffir lime leaves before entering the room. This greeting is meant to cleanse and lift energy while restoring the chi.

The beginning of any treatment starts with a blessing.

After that, the hair care ritual begun with natural ingredients and caring strokes known as a scalp massage. After the energy started flowing, it was time for the “second base”. That was when the therapist applied a little bit of the olive oil on my head and spread it around with the bamboo comb. The final seal of this Peranakan bridal care was the fruity conditioner and final rinse with warm lime infused water. Thorough the procedure, I kept the warm pillow on my belly and cushions under my arms.

My Spa Village Malacca Treatment

Body Scrub

I jumped at a chance to be covered in Malacca palm sugar, also known as Gula Melaka, and honey. Luckily, I wasn’t left alone with this delicious body scrub, because it wouldn’t end just on my skin. However, nutritions from honey and Gula Melaka are absorbed through the skin as well and give extra beauty boost.

Majestic Melaka Spa
Honey and Gula Melaka make a nutritious and pleasant body scrub.

Once the scrubbing part was over, it was time for a face mask with a bird’s nest and fermented tapioca. To ensure the maximum comfort and prolonged absorption, my therapist covered me with a blanket before applying the face mask.

Peranakan Beauty treatment
If you don’t know whether you need to balance your yin or yang, the attentive Spa Village staff is there for you.

Facial

The bird’s nest saliva is scientifically proven to enhance complexion and youthful appearance if applied regularly. Together with fermented tapioca, it offered an abundance of vitamins and minerals for my skin to absorb in 50 minutes.

honey face scrub
Face exfoliant has a more gentle texture than the one applied to the body. However, still full of Gula Melaka and Honey. I wish it would be Trigona honey.

Birds nest
We came across Peranakan bird’s nest in Penang at Little Kitchen, where you can try authentic soup made out of it.

The use of fermented goods ensures the application of beneficial enzymes, probiotics that help and nourish the skin. After this nourishing, the therapist massaged my entire face with the chilled jade rollers. My skin was smooth as silk.

A face massage will send you into the seventh heaven.

After Treatment

After an absolutely blissful time, I showered and got dressed up before heading to the resting area. It was time for the tea and somewhat unusual bite, which actually made a lot of sense – pickles. We know that beauty comes from within, so pickles provided beneficial probiotics. On top of that, Nyonya pickles with spicy and sweet seasonings go well with the complimentary earthy tea.

best spa in Melaka
The Spa Village Malacca is the only spa that bases its therapies on the healing heritage of the Peranakan culture.

Conclusion

Days after my pampering at the Spa Village Malacca, I could still see the benefits of Nyonya’s secrets. My dry and sensitive skin was well hydrated and had higher elasticity than usual, for quite a few days. I suppose the absence of chemicals and old knowledge is the combination that guarantees success.
