Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara Review: Our Club Room Stay

Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara is a strong choice for travelers who want polished service and Club privileges outside the bustle of KLCC. During our stay, its spacious Luxury Club Room, excellent bed and consistently good food were easy to appreciate. A maintenance problem during heavy rain exposed a weakness we could not ignore, but it did not become the defining memory of the hotel.

We arrived shortly after staying at the Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur, yet Sofitel offered a different proposition: a quieter Damansara Heights base with French references, bold contemporary interiors and excellent hospitality.

First Impressions at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara

The hotel occupies part of a substantial mixed-use complex with residences, offices and shopping nearby. Its exterior did not immediately distinguish itself from Kuala Lumpur’s many modern towers, but the interior made a stronger case. The lobby used scale, soft colors, sculptural forms and cascading lights to create a calm social space despite receiving relatively little natural light.

The design combined Sofitel’s familiar French references with decorative elements inspired by Malaysia. It was unmistakably a large international hotel, yet the artwork and floral details kept the public spaces from becoming anonymous.

Check-In and Club Millésime

The main lobby had three check-in desks, but our Club Millésime access allowed us to complete the formalities in the lounge on level 22. The process was quick, practical and pleasantly unhurried. More importantly, it introduced the standard of service that continued throughout the stay.

Club access proved valuable for more than priority arrival. It gave us a peaceful breakfast, afternoon refreshments, evening drinks and a comfortable place to work between meals. Business travelers could also use a meeting room, while the reliable internet made the lounge genuinely useful instead of merely decorative.

Our Luxury Club Room

Our Luxury Club Room paired an earthy palette of cream, dark brown and orange with generous natural light. A proper desk made the room easy to use for work, while an armchair offered a more comfortable place to read. The view looked across the pool and surrounding development, pleasant enough during the day but less memorable than the skyline around KLCC.

The Sofitel MyBed lived up to its reputation. It was exceptionally comfortable without becoming so soft that sleep turned into an exercise in climbing out of a cloud. The room was also quiet, well arranged and spacious enough for two people to settle in without competing for every surface.

Bathroom and Room Amenities

The marble bathroom was equally generous, with a deep bathtub and a separate rainfall shower. Guests who alternate between soaking and showering according to how many kilometers they have walked that day will find both options properly accommodated.

TWG tea and a Nespresso machine elevated the complimentary drinks selection. The orange-scented toiletries were more conventional, although the exfoliating loofah pad was a thoughtful addition. A sewing kit and the usual personal-care items completed an amenity selection that covered the essentials well.

Pool, Gym and Cleanliness

The outdoor pool occupied a broad terrace with enough space to relax away from the lobby’s movement. It was not a dramatic rooftop infinity pool, but it worked well as a genuine hotel facility rather than a decorative strip of water added for photographs.

The well-equipped SoFIT gym was open 24 hours during our stay, a useful advantage for guests arriving from another time zone or working around meetings. The hotel also had a spa with hammam facilities, although its steam room and sauna were closed for repairs when we visited. Our room and the public areas were clean overall. We did notice that the air in our room could have been fresher, but it was a minor issue rather than a serious cleanliness concern.

Dining at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara

Food and beverage became one of the highlights of our stay. We experienced the main breakfast, Club Millésime presentations, afternoon tea and the hotel buffet, finding a confident mix of Asian dishes and Sofitel’s French influence. Our visit took place several years ago, so individual venues and offers may have changed, but the official hotel website remains the best source for current dining arrangements.

Breakfast at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara

Guests could choose the larger buffet at Kwee Zeen, room service or the quieter Club Millésime breakfast available with eligible rooms. We preferred the Club lounge, where the smaller self-service display was supported by cooked dishes ordered from a menu. The selection still covered French pastries, fruit, salads, cheese and other breakfast staples without the commotion of a large restaurant.

Our eggs Benedict and Black Angus sirloin minute steak were both excellent. The combination might have been more substantial than strictly necessary at the beginning of the day, but restraint has never been the most reliable companion at a good hotel breakfast.

Afternoon Tea and Buffet

We tried afternoon tea both at Le Bar and in Club Millésime. Some bites at Le Bar fell short of the standard we expected, while the Club presentation was more generous and consistently better, including the scones. Kwee Zeen was the hotel’s large all-day dining restaurant and the setting for its buffet. The spread moved comfortably between Asian and Western cooking, with enough French classics to make the Sofitel identity relevant at the table. Service at Sofitel Damansara

Service was the hotel’s most consistent strength. The Sofitel greeting of “bonjour” followed us through the building, yet the warmth did not seem rehearsed. Staff handled requests efficiently, the Club team paid attention without hovering, and the overall manner balanced professional standards with genuine hospitality.

Sofitel Damansara Location: Damansara Heights vs KLCC

Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara is in Damansara Heights, between central Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya. This makes it particularly practical for business in the surrounding districts and for returning visitors who do not need to sleep beside the Petronas Twin Towers. The neighborhood is calmer than KLCC or Bukit Bintang, with shopping and dining available close to the hotel.

For a first short visit focused on Kuala Lumpur’s best-known sights, a central hotel can reduce journey times. Sofitel is not isolated, however. Pusat Bandar Damansara MRT station is approximately five minutes away on foot according to the hotel, providing a useful alternative when road traffic decides it has nowhere else to be.

Is Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara Worth Staying At?

Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara gave us a spacious and comfortable room, excellent Club Millésime benefits, strong food and some of the best service we encountered during that part of our Kuala Lumpur trip. The pool and gym made the hotel easy to enjoy between excursions, while the quieter Damansara Heights setting will suit business travelers and returning visitors who already know the city.

The location is less compelling for a first visit centered on the Petronas Twin Towers and Bukit Bintang, although the nearby MRT improves access considerably. We also cannot ignore the moment when heavy rain found its way indoors and landed on the back of a neck that had not requested a shower. That construction flaw was disappointing in a relatively new luxury hotel. It did not erase the quality of the room, food or staff, but it explains why an otherwise impressive stay stopped at 8.8.
