Sofitel Damansara Kuala Lumpur Review

March 29, 2020

Usually, Sofitel’s hotels provide a positive experience enriched with sophistication and excitement. That was the reason we decided to check into the first Sofitel hotel in Malaysia. Let’s remember that Kuala Lumpur is a city where luxury hotels are soaring, and competition is pretty harsh. With our impression still fresh from the new Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur, we were expecting comparable excellence at the Sofitel Damansara Kuala Lumpur. Now let’s dive into our Sofitel Damansara Kuala Lumpur review and check if this luxurious hotel is among the best hotels in Kuala Lumpur.

The Ambiance of Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara

The hotel is a part of a more significant complex, comprising of two high-end condominiums, two corporate office towers, and a shopping mall. The exterior is not exciting to us, but that is quite common for skyscrapers, therefore we were more focused on the interior.

Open space and lean lines set a peaceful atmosphere.

All the hotels need art!

Vast lobby designed as sculptural elements anchored by cascading light sculptures serves as a main social hub. We love the open space, pastel colors, and great Ambiental lighting. Natural lighting is limited here, so smart design was more than needed and is well put in place.

Check-in

There were three check-in desks, so I guess it hardly gets crowded. On top of that, if you have Club Millésime access, like us, your priority check-in is at level 22. Our check-in there was fast and practical.

Our Room

We were staying at the Luxury Club Floor Room, which is intended to deliver the French savoir-faire with stylish modern amenities that guarantee maximum comfort. If you need to get some work done, the large desk is ready for use.

MyBed is all you need for good night sleep. Well, it does the trick for us.

On the other hand, if you are looking for something opposite from work, then check the bath offer and relax in a spacious marble bathroom for as long as you want. Reasonably, you can also use the rainfall shower.

Grab a book and chill at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara.

The color scheme is earthy with cream, dark brown, and orange, and here natural lighting is not compromised. Maybe we were still spoiled by the KLCC park view from Four Seasons KL. Nevertheless, view over the pool area of the Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara from above can be entertaining.

Amenities

In-room complimentary offer excited us with the TWG tea and Nespresso coffee. Less exciting are the classic toiletries with one exception; exfoliating loofah pad. Apart from orange-scented toiletries, you’ll find sewing kit and items for personal hygiene.

Facilities

The hotel has a spacious pool area, well equipped SoFIT gym, that is open 24 hours a day, and SoSpa for some wellness pleasures. However, on our visit, their steam and sauna were closed due to some rectification works. I am wondering if they had the same construction company like Four Seasons KL, where the steam room already got some critical fails.

Anyway, to sum up, Sofitel Damansara Kuala Lumpur has all you wish for. Including conference rooms for meetings and different events.

Cleanliness

The room and the whole Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara hotel, in general, are clean. The air quality in the room could be better, though, but nothing severe.

Dining

At Sofitel Damansara Kuala Lumpur, you will find five in-house dining options. Restaurant Nizza is serving Mediterranean cuisine, the main restaurant Kwee Zeen serves self-service breakfast, à la carte menu with a French touch, and Sofitel Damansara buffet, including fabulous Cést La Vie Sunday Brunch.

Iconic Petronas Twin Towers decorate the Kwee Zeen restaurant.

For Chinese flavors, you can visit their Wan Chun Ting restaurant, before enjoying a drink or two. Reasonably, there are different options, including pool bar outside, Le bar in the lobby, and Club Millésime up on the 22nd floor. In addition, let’s not forget the Sofitel Damansara high tea we had at their chick Le Bar.

Breakfast

During your stay, you can choose between a self-service breakfast buffet at the Kwee Zeen restaurant or enjoy the privacy with breakfast in bed. The third option is for the members of the Millésime Club.

Peaceful breakfast at exclusive Club Millésime consisted of an extensive breakfast menu and self-service area. Apart from the three dishes from the menu, we were able to try an unlimited amount of French pastry, fruit, salads, cheese…

Afternoon Tea

We love afternoon tea, and on our quest for the best afternoon tea in Kuala Lumpur, we tried both options at the Sofitel Damansara. The first one was at the Le Club, where we were slightly disappointed by some of the bites. More about it, you can check in the Sofitel Damansara afternoon tea review.

Our second high tea occasion at the Millésime Club turned out to be a far more enjoyable experience. Not only were the bites more abundant, but also appeared to be of a higher quality. Honestly, everything was better, including scones.

We prefer the afternoon tea at the Exclusive Millésime Club over the Le Bar.

Buffet

The place to be for all-you-can-eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner is Kwee Zeen restaurant. There you’ll find thoughtfully prepared dishes that cover all possible cravings looking for Asian and Western tastes, French in particular. For more check our Sofitel Damansara brunch review.

Pampering service and high-quality gastronomic offer are well worth the extra stretch. First is the breakfast in a peaceful environment that sets the day right, but also the high-speed internet helps.

I love it!

For those of you who go straight to business, the complimentary use of the meeting room will also prove to be a welcoming sight. For us, it was all about the food. Therefore, we can report absolutely delicious bites; in the afternoon, we were happy with the drinks offer as well.

Service at Sofitel Damansara

Two things in life are inevitable, death and impeccable service at Sofitel’s hotels. Joke aside, Sofitel Damansara has great service, and “bonjour” is a greeting you will hear everywhere.

Conclusion

Luxury hotels are on the rise here in Kuala Lumpur and competition is hard, to be honest. Sofitel Damansara is one of these newly establish hotels, packed with hospitality and French touch. The room is nice, the food is lovely and the service is impeccable.

Modern art
Is the marble wall also part of the exhibit?

However, there is the same problem as in many other Malaysian hotels – bad construction. Well, it is funny to feel rain behind your neck inside the new hotel. Thank you for reading our Sofitel Damansara Kuala Lumpur Review. See you next time.

We are always happy when we get some fresh fruit.
