How We Rate High Teas?

Probably you are asking how can you trust us with the rating? Let’s just say we are 100% foodies with a rare condition called – honesty. If something doesn’t meet our expectations we share our thoughts, because there is no time for bull****. Our high tea reviews have six criteria, scaling from 0 to 10. These are atmosphere, service, tea selection, presentation, bites, and value. I’m not gonna lie, choosing the best high tea in Kuala Lumpur is not an easy task. Competition is tough and sweets are outstanding. However, here are our finest.

I adore beautiful tea strainers, and we got a vintage English style silver tea strainer for our Four Seasons KL high tea.

Mandarin Oriental KL High Tea

Have you just finished your business meeting, and sugar levels are critical low? Say no more fam. In the KLCC area, you have many options to save that problem with a touch of god old English tradition – afternoon tea. For a quick and delicious fix, I would recommend the Mandarin Oriental KL high tea set. Mandarin Oriental standards are high, and chefs from Europe share their sweet secrets with colleges here. Every bite is “state of the art,” service is impeccable and the atmosphere is quite good. After all, if you have ever seen their dessert room, which they prepare for Mandarin Oriental Brunch, you know what I am talking about. Sweets here are sacred.

Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur High Tea

Don’t be surprised if most of the outlets from our “best high tea in Kuala Lumpur” are coming straight out of the KLCC area. However, KLCC is a city center, and the offer is abundant. Our next recommendation is coming from here as well, and it is sharing the same park with Mandarin Oriental. We are talking about Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur’s high tea. Their afternoon tea is called High on sugar afternoon tea buffet and is served in an airy THIRTY8 restaurant. Yes, that’s right – a freaking buffet. Somehow this looks more like a feast than easy afternoon tea. The selection of desserts is crazy, and that is not all. For a savory part, you get a la carte menu, where you can choose your favorite bites. There is no need to explain that we tried everything, right? And if that is not enough for you, you can stop at the noodle station as well. Like we said, crazy!

Four Seasons KL High Tea

Our stay at Four Seasons KL was exceptional and so it is their food. Four Seasons are a new player in this Kuala Lumpur’s high tea race, and their start is strong. Artisanal food and lovely service will make sure you will come back to the Four Seasons KL high tea. Ambiance by itself certainly is amazing though, the only downside is the temperature they are keeping inside. It’s freezing, so I recommend a winter jacket! However, the food and tea are delicate and rich so if you add a lovely ambiance, you get a lovely afternoon tea.

Majestic Hotel KL High Tea

Finally, an opponent from another area of Kuala Lumpur. Majestic Hotel KL is situated near Perdana Botanical Gardens and shares the same characteristic with the gardens – inheritance. For Majestic Hotel KL high tea, you will be literally in your garden of orchids if you make a reservation well in advance. Indeed, they serve their afternoon tea in Orchids conservatory, which makes the best place to have afternoon tea in Kuala Lumpur. Although, is it delicious as well? The food is palatable and exciting. However, the downside at Majestic afternoon tea is the tea selection. Sadly, they are serving Twinings loose teas, which isn’t the highest quality. No matters what, ambiance saves everything.

Nobu Kuala Lumpur High Tea

Are you looking for not so traditional afternoon tea? If yes, we warmly recommend you Nobu high tea with the Japanese twist. Nobu is a well known Japanese restaurant that happens to serve Japanese style afternoon teas as well. At first, we were a bit skeptical, but when the set came out, we stayed speechless. All the food is an exquisite experience that will last. We encourage you to try some sushi with your afternoon tea as well. However, the tea selection is a bit short, but the quality of Japanese teas is astounding.

BONUS – Majestic Malacca High Tea

All right, we are giving you one more tip. This one is not in Kuala Lumpur, but worth a short trip to the historic city Melaka (2 hours drive away). In Melaka, you will found heritage at every step. The cherry on the top might be KL Majestic Hotel’s sister, the Majestic Hotel Malacca. Here they serve their traditional Majestic afternoon tea with heritage in mind. Lovely food and Peranakan ambiance are all you need for a weekend getaway.
